  السُّكونُ   assukoon(u)

The sukoon sound (vowel) is this circle symbol   ْ  on the letters:

ذئب   thi'bun (th as in the)

أَمْريكا  amreekaa

لي بِنْتٌ في أَمْريكا
تَعيشُ بِنْتُهُ في إِسْبانْيا
روسْيا حَليفَةٌ لِسورْيا

ماري تُحِبُّ بِلْ، وَ بِلْ يُحِبُّ نانْسي، وَ نانْسي لا تُحِبُّ أَحَداً

قَتَلَتْ نانْسي زَوْجَها وَ هَرَبَتْ مَعَ خَليلِها إِلى بَيْروتَ؛ وَ بَعْدَ ثَلاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ، أَوْقَفَتْهُما الشُّرْطَةُ في فُنْدُقٍ قُرْبَ الشَّاطئِ

Long   a   symbol: aa  المَدُّ بِالأَلِفِ   al maddu bil-alifi 


 We add alif ( ا  ) to the letter to get long a
 
كا kaa   با   baa  ما maa
أَنَا     anaa      (me, I)
هُنا     hunaa      (here)
 هُناكَ  hunaaka     (there)



 المَدُّ بِالْوَاوِ
Long u  symbol: oo   al maddu bilwaaw(i) 


We add   waaw   ( و   ) to the letter to get long u

يَقولُ     yaqoolu

Long i  symbol: ee  al maddu bilyaa المَدُّ بِالْيَاءِ

We add   yaa   ( ي  ) to the letter to get long i

التَّنْوينُ بِالضَّمِّ tanween(un) biDDamm(i)

التَّنْوينُ بِالْكَسْرِ  tanween(un) bilkassri

There is no difference in meaning between:
kutubun     كُتُبٌ
كُتُبٍ   kutubin
 كُتُباً   kutuban

They all mean "books";  they end in one of these three sounds depending on their place in the sentence. Subjects without a definite article usually end in un; complements without a definite article usually end in an; nouns (without a definite article) usually end in in when they come after a preposition.

الشَّدَّةُ  ashadda(tu) is doubling the letter:

as in hot    hotter, red   redder

أُمُّهُ       ummuhu
أُمِّي       ummee
انْجْلَتِرَّا    injlaterraa  (England)

(I don't sleep.)

(I don't love.)
